Dog Days of Summer
10:00pm - 5:00pmThe love of dogs is a pure human connection that unites people of all races, genders and backgrounds. It is the mission of the AKC Museum of the Dog to reflect this message in our collections, programming and gallery spaces in order to emphasize the unity of humanity. As a Museum, we have taken the time to reflect on our responsibility to serve all members of our community and are working to diversify the representation of artists in our gallery spaces, beginning with the Dog Days of Summer artist showcase.
We are proud to share the news that the 2020 Dog Days of Summer artist showcase will celebrate the talents and diversity of artists in our community in order to continue supporting equality for all visitors and community members. To this end, the Museum is encouraging submissions from BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) artists. The work can be submitted online through our Dog Days of Summer application page on our website. Selected artwork will be featured at the Museum via virtual interviews, demonstrations and more when the Museum reopens in August.
All mediums encouraged! The application deadline is August 7th. Artists will be featured virtually on our website, throughout our social media channels and in the Museum pending reopening guidelines, between August 24th – September 7th.
The Museum of the Dog looks forward to continuing to build relationships with emerging artists in order to properly represent our community, both here in New York City and around the world.
