A special evening honoring Ellen MacNeille Charles, President of the Board of Directors and the Honorable Dave C. Merriam, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.

We are celebrating the many contributions of these two beloved leaders as NYC bustles once again.

The evening will begin with a special cocktail reception at the Museum—Around the World with Whiskey—which will feature whiskeys from three countries paired with artwork from our collection featuring breeds from each local. Hors d’oeuvres, wine, and soft drinks will also be served.

Guests will then proceed to dinner and Broadway-themed entertainment at the adjoining Club 101.

Tails of Manhattan is the largest fundraiser for the AKC Museum of the Dog and with generous support from donors like you we are able to continue to care for one of the leading collections of dog art in the world and foster positive engagement with our canine companions.

Enjoy perusing paintings with your pup!

Join Sarah Moshenberg, the Learning and Engagement Manager, for a furry friendly tour of the galleries of the AKC Museum of the Dog including the special exhibition Identity & Restraint: Art of the Dog Collar. Then, grab your included packed lunch and mosey over to Bryant Park for special reserved seating for you and your dog at Bryant Park’s Draw Your Dog Art Cart Workshop taught by artist Andrea Caceres. All art supplies provided by Bryant Park’s Art Cart. It’s a special day with your dog that you don’t want to miss!

Join artist Andrea Caceres at the Bryant Park Art Cart for a dog friendly drawing workshop. Andrea will cover the basics of depicting dogs in her style and capturing the personality of your pet. Supplies provided by the Bryant Park Art Cart. Bring your own pup or work from a photo. 

Please note the rain date for this workshop is May 13, 2023.
This workshop will take place at Bryant Park, is free of charge, and seating is available on a first come, first served basis. To reserve seating, please see our listing for the Furry Friendly Tour on the same morning.

Come find the AKC Museum of the Dog's booth at the 147th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in Queens at the USTA Billy Jean King National Tennis Center. Enter a giveaway for a Museum prize pack, pick up some temporary tattoos of our mascot Arty, and other fun, interactive surprises!

The Museum's booth can be found in the American Kennel Club's tent on the grounds of the Tennis Center. More detailed location info will be released on our Instagram page during the show. We hope to see you there!

Special for May 12: Furry Friday meets Art After Hours: Learn to cartoon your dog with New Yorker cartoonist, Lisa Rothstein!

Lisa Rothstein is a former Madison Avenue creative director and cartoonist whose work has appeared in The New Yorker Magazine, online for various companies and on licensed products. When she is not drawing dogs, she helps companies and innovators tell stories that help them sell their products, and trains them in visual storytelling.

Two drawing sessions will be held: 6:15pm and 7:00pm; Program attendees will be welcome to enter the Museum anytime after 6pm, and will have reserved access to seating in the library for the class at their selected, ticketed time. Art supplies will be provided.

Get to know a dog breed at the AKC Museum of the Dog!
 
Each month we are highlighting one of the 200 recognized breeds in the American Kennel Club. You’ll learn the history of the breed as well as key characteristics of their anatomy and coat that help them meet the standard. Activities include art-making, stories and books, a collectable breed fact sheet, and an opportunity to meet a live dog.
