Identity and Restraint: Art of the Dog Collar

April 05, 2023 - September 03, 2023

Held in conjunction with the National Sporting Library and Museum in Middleburg, VA the exhibition brings together over 60 collars from the NSLM's collection and 50 artworks belonging to the American Kennel Club and the AKC Museum of the Dog. The combination of the collars and artworks illustrates how they were used and evolved over several centuries.

This exhibition was organized in partnership between the National Sporting Library & Museum and the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog and was made possible through the generosity of Dr. and Mrs. Timothy J. Greenan, Garth Greenan Gallery, and Mark Anstine and Marianna Lancaster.

Identity & Restraint: Art of the Dog Collar is made possible in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
