Description

Sculpture / match holder. Parian porcelain. Sculpture depicts two dogs near a woven basket set upon a rectangular base with rounded ends. Title impressed on front of base in upper case letters "IMPOSING ON GOOD NATURE". Inscribed on back right corner in upper case letters "D.C.FRENCH." Sculpture depicts one large dog lying down with eyes closed; a second dog is much smaller and appears to be jumping on larger dog. Smaller dog has a bow around its neck. Back of pedestal includes a diamond-shaped production mark with the following inscription: "Rd" in the center "2" to the left, "I" to the right, "2" above, and "I" below. Circle above diamond with a "IV" inside.

Service animals are welcome in the museum. The museum entrance is wheelchair accessible via the building’s main plaza on the corner of Park Ave and E 40th Street. Accessible elevators are located on the first floor of the museum to the left of the admissions desk and gift shop. Public restrooms include accessible facilities.
